The Kazakh language is a member of the Turkic language family. It used primarily in Kazakhstan and it is only spoken by 64% of the population, while almost all Kazakhstanis speak Russian. This is why Kazakhstan is often considered a bilingual country. Because of the universal usage throughout the country.

Kazakh uses a Cyrillic alphabet, which you will notice immediately after arriving, similar to that used in Russian. English is not yet widely spoken so learning the Cyrillic alphabet, basic phrases, and how to count in either of the local languages will help you in Kazakhstan.
